Klay Thompson hit a corner three with one second left in overtime to lift the Miami Heat past the Los Angeles Clippers, 117–116, on Wednesday, November 4. It was his eighth three of the night and capped a 30-point performance.
How Miami freed Thompson in the corner
The Heat trailed by two with 3.3 seconds to run an inbound play. Bam Adebayo screened for Thompson, Brook Lopez stayed with Adebayo, and Thompson got a clean look from the left corner. The spacing mattered: Adebayo had already scored 35 points, so the Clippers had a reason to stay attached to him. Miami used that matchup to open a shot for someone else.
Thompson had also hit a corner three earlier in overtime to tie the game. He went 8-for-17 from deep and accounted for eight of Miami’s 10 made threes.
